Bad Day

I feel like a lot of times blogs tend to be dominated by posts either about some inspiration or how the blogger had a majorly sucky day. This is the latter.

I don't really feel like going through the list of things that happened today because I don't care to justify my mood, to anyone, ever. I just need some time with my pillow & pile of blankets.

Normally I would tune my iPod to some Nirvana or Blink but I'm not in the mood for wallowing. So instead I'm turning up the La Roux, MPHO, and Priscilla Renea. Plus, M burned me some quality *NSYNC.

Saving Face

I'm a bit sick. Not at all like when Alex had some rare stream of pneumonia, but my throat hurts and my head feels 10 pounds heavier than last week. Nothing is going well; my tea selection is terrible, I'm out of honey and that blue tylenol stuff, and the worst part, I new it was coming but I didn't stop it. Why? Sometimes is nice to have an excuse to stay home and do nothing, plus hearing people cough and everything when they're sick grosses me out. I know that if I sound like that, I wouldn't want people to hear me. So today, I'll chill out and do physics homework, but I'll be back by tomorrow. Hopefully.

Here's a short from last night's SNL with Megan Fox. Enjoy!

House of Holland

I know what you're thinking. She's gone mad. Why would she post this ridiculous outfit on the blog. But come on. Does no one else see it?

I would hope Alex, Lilia and hopefully even our good friend M see the resemblance to our most viewed (maybe not for alex.. harry potter..) movie of all time, Mean Girls. You know.. the scene where Janice cuts circles in the chest area of Regina's white wife beater, such that her purple bra is easily visible. Come on. Remember?

Jeremy Scott

I know this collection has been seriously hated on recently, but I love it. Jeremy Scott, I adore you. Plus, I wore my hair like that until like high school. It was my party look.

Wacky, or Wise?

I just read an article on one of my favorite news/pop-culture blogs, Jezebel, about a woman making her living by being a "sex surrogate." And I have conflicting feelings about the whole ordeal. Here's the low-down. According to The Sun (Brit tabloid), Mare Simone is a "sexual healer" who helps men to be better in bed. And, by her logic, she is therefore doing these men's significant others a favor, as well. The Sun attempts to make her out to look like she just sleeps with all her clients, and jumps pretty quickly into her defense of why she is not a prostitute, but towards the end the whole profession appears slightly less, well, sketchy. Of her estimated 10,000 clients, Mare guesses she's had intercourse with about 1,500 men, some while their significant other watched.

Mulling this over, I'm just made uncomfortable in general by this whole idea. I feel like a lot of the therapy could be done minus the sex, if only for the fact that, to me, this is some weird kind of cheating. But I'm sure The Sun sells more copies of this story if a woman is LEGALLY SELLING SEX as opposed to being just another sex therapist. By the way, this is apparently very common in the US?

Wallaby

Now, I don't know about you, but a pretty sizeable part of my day is spent thinking about food. I'm not some sort of crazy food addict or anything, but i certainly do appreciate a nice hearty meal, or just a good snack, for that matter.
Furthermore, since traveling to Paris, France a few years back, I have been searching high and low for the perfect yogurt. You see, in France, they have yummy flavors like apple, and pear, pre-mixed for you (non of this fruit on the bottom nonsense), and, frankly, it's one of the most delicious things ever.
So I have finally found the perfect yogurt. It's called Wallaby, and costs the standard 99 cents at the grocer's. Not only that, but Wallaby comes in some of the most exciting and delicious flavors I've ever seen. Some of my favorites are Lemon, Key Lime, and Peach. But true to yogurt form, they also have the standard blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and vanilla. The citrus-ey flavors aren't too tart, but just the right flavor, and the standard yogurt taste, ya know the one i mean?, is muted in Wallaby, so that it doesn't taste like you're eating sour milk.
Plus, who doesn't enjoy a nice Kangaroo graphic on their breakfast? Enjoy!

Fashion Week (So Far)

I really cannot say that I've been following Fashion Week intently, but I have flipped through some snapshots of the shows, and even I have picked out a few faves.

So far, Diane von Furstenberg's collection is my favorite. Usually I'm not a fan of cuffs, but I found myself wanting these.

Alexander Wang's sporty collection was full of sweatshirt material mixed with sheer fabrics, but this piece really caught my eye.

Derek Lam presented several loves, such as this, this and especially this.

And Jason Wu's collection was a plethora of winners. Seriously, I can't narrow it down.

I'm sure Carolyn will have a better break down of New York's Fashion Week, once she digs herself out from under her pile of work.

If you think you can roll...

It's a catch-up/college application Sunday, pretty chill over all. And I'm in the mood for some beats from the turn of the millenia, a time when midriff-baring tops paired with huge pants were THE look.

In Rememberance

Yes. It's that day. The day that everyone says the world changed. But back in 2001, when I was a measly 4th grader, my world didn't change. I remember this day every year. I remember exactly how I found out. I was in class, and an announcement came on the loud speaker notifying the teachers to check their e-mail immediately. We didn't know about any of it until after school. My dad came to walk home with me, which I thought was strange since I was old enough to walk the block by myself. Little did I know that he only greeted me early to tell me what happened.

(Look behind him!) Tourist Guy

For me, though, I live my life everyday, hardly thinking about what happened today, 8 years ago. But today, I will think about it. We watched The Day the Towers Fell, a History Channel documentary on the images and video from 9/11, today in graphics. I've seen a ton of pictures of the towers, but I teared up when I saw the pictures of people's faces as they watched the towers fall. The horror and pain that they felt was captured in that exact moment.
So, here I am. Remembering. I hope you take a second to remember, too.

Half Amazon, Half Amazing

I've really wanted to write about Bridget Gray for the past couple days, but I just haven't been able to think of how to explain her. She's a poet. That's basically as far as I can get. I'll just let her elaborate.

Don't miss out on "My Letter to Hip Hop," "I Am A Woman," or "War or Peace," all on her myspace page. I also love "What If We Kissed," just be prepared to be surprised.

Freaky Friday

Recently, I've seen a lot of freaky crap. Hence, Freaky Friday. Today, I'll share with you some freaky fucked-up ways people are getting drunk. And you guessed it, they're not just drinking anymore.

First up, and worst, are the vodka tampons and anal beer bongs. It's exactly what it sounds like.

Not only does this weird me out, but it's horribly damaging to people's bodies. Especially young women who may not even be menstruating yet.

Secondly, another use for tampons. A quick youtube search presented a plethora of videos of people sticking tampons in vodka bottles, and then sucking the alcohol out of them. Technically, they're still drinking it, but the thought of putting a tampon in your mouth grosses me out, even though it really is just a wad of cotton.

Lastly is the snorting method. If you didn't think drinking alcohol went to your senses quick enough, this will definitely fit the bill. Great way to fuck up your brain, and probably nose. I mean, freak up.

This is such a good way to kick off the weekend...

Wizard Style

I was watching Wizards of Waverly Place the other night and I noticed Selena Gomez had a really cute hairstyle, so I decided I would try and emulate it. A lock of hair was braided along the bottom of her hair, from behind one ear to the other said of her head. This small braid then culminated in a larger braid with the rest of her hair and rested on the neck. Something was braided in with her hair but it was hard to tell exactly was it was, so I just used a red ribbon I had in my room.
The ribbon was easy to braid in, I just pinned in behind my ear and treated it as another piece of hair.

Happy Thursday!
