Here we are...

It's finally summertime, and I've never felt more alive than I do right now. There was the initial, "I have no idea what to do with myself because I haven't had this much free time all year," feeling, and now contentment has settled in upon me. Summer often brings that lovely feeling that the world is your oyster, and I'm relishing it. I'm looking ahead, and behind, and marvelling the view from where I stand. I believe Arne Quinze put it best:

I love chaos. I'd love to freeze one of these sublime moments when the logic of chaos, the only thing that is real, reveals its incomparable beauty and harmony...

Polyvore

I have a new addiction. It's called polyvore and it's so much fun. I just made an account a few hours ago and I love it. I'm sure there are other features on there but so far making collages is 100% my fave, no question.

You can sort things by color:

You can sort by object:

And here's some playful jewelry all under $50, because guess what? You can sort by price!

The "Back to School" Phenomenon

Today was our last day of school. We are officially seniors at long last. And I just got an e-mail entitled "New Looks for Back to School." Really, Abercrombie & Fitch? It's still June. My summer has hardly started. This is ridiculous. In honor of summer and never allowing yourself to count the weeks (it's a magical time, don't ruin it) here's some warm weather inspiration for you.

Summer dress from Urban Outfitters

Sun-filled road trips

Fresh blossoms

Inviting forests

Unexpected wonders

Sights you never thought you'd see

So here's to ignoring those "back to school" blowouts for another few months and taking the time to soak up the summer.

My Sister's Keeper

"Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it’s not because they enjoy solitude. It’s because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them."

My Sister's Keeper

Bet you never knew

I am so in love with this song and MPHO in general it's just ridiculous. I can't wait until her album drops this summer!

Did I really send that?

New favorite website! It's called texts from last night and it's amazing. Here's a sample:

(443): why is it impossible to run with a back pack without looking like a giant d-bag?
(410): haha... you gave me a great visual of you in high white socks running with a backpack with eye of the tiger playing in the background
(443): that only happened once.

Shout out to Shell for twittering that shit.

Happy weekend!!

Nicest Things

It's late and I'm feeling like some Kate Nash. She has a song called dickhead. And one called Caroline's a Victim. Which is slightly funny because my name is Carolyn and oh whatever. You get it. Goodnight.

Ronson Takeover

I'm really into Daniel Merriweather and Mark Ronson right now, and apparently I have been for a while because before I posted this video I checked to make sure I wasn't repeating myself... And it turns I totally am! I put up this same music video back in April, but it's really good so here it is again, in case you forgot. Mark Ronson featuring Daniel Merriweather "Stop Me"

And here's another Mark Ronson song featuring Lily Allen, "Oh My God"

Good Morning!

It's 7:15 (ish) and I'm sitting here sipping my tea (and rubbing my eyes, damn allergies). But the exciting part of this morning is that I have free time! So I can leisurely enjoy my breakfast and bask in the knowledge that today, if my dad is late, it is 100% not my fault.

Governor's Island

One of the "blogs we love" is The Sartorialist, and if you've ever checked it out, then you understand why. It features pictures from different cities of innovative or inspiring fashions found on the street, with the occasional interview interspersed throughout. This afternoon went I went online to check out the newest postings, I fell in love. The latest images are from "Governor's Island" and I immediately wanted to know more.

All images via The Sartorialist
What is Governor's Island, you ask? Well, it is a small island off of Brooklyn which is open on the weekends from May to October. Here is an aerial image via the Governor's Island website.

If I visit someday, I'll be sure to take some photographs.

Pixie Market

Pixie Market. Their clothes rock.
I'm feelin' some navy blue and white for this summer. Oh yea, and sequins? Maybe.

Definitely have to try to replicate the black/white tie-dye.

Kat Dennings said so

Last night Kat Dennings (of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) posted this link on her twitter account. She updated with "THE. CUTEST. THING. IN. THE. UNIVERSE." and I agree. Go look. Right now. I'm not kidding. You will ooh more than once.

Lost Balloons

"And suddenly I knew what became of all those lost balloons: they were the loves that slipped out of our fists; the blank eyes that rose in every night sky." -My Sister's Keeper

Matt & Kim

They're my new favorite band. They met at Pratt. They make me want to dance.

I love them and you should too. Meet Matt & Kim.

Megan Mcisaac

I found my new blog obsession, Megan McIsaac's tumblr, by way of her flickr. She has mixes that you can download (for free!) in the side bar, but basically it's music and her photography and her stories. I've been reading page after page of her previous posts today, and she has thoughtful things to say. She moved out to Portland, Oregon - which is at the top of my travel list right now because it's so cool - and is couch surfing and doing some commercial photography and selling prints to save up some cash. She has taken pictures of all the interesting characters she has met along her journey. I love how her photographs capture complete moments.

All from Megan McIsaac's Flickr

I downloaded this song from one of Megan's playlists. I love it for some reason. Sorry they didn't have a good video of it... They're coming to Noho in August.
There's a lot more I wanted to blog about, but not now, so expect more from me soon.
Have a nice Saturday night!

Sleep tight!

Let's be honest here, I like to sleep and I love my bed. So what better room to make the ultimate place of cozy and cute than your bedroom? Here are a bunch of enticing sleeping quarters I would be proud to say were my own.

Warning: Don't continue if you haven't had your coffee yet!

Office Space

If you work at home, or have ever tried to write an essay at your kitchen table, you know the importance of having a good work space. It's nearly impossible to be productive and inventive in the same area you eat, wash dishes, watch TV, and drink your morning cup of tea in. Which is why I'm sharing these great home offices with you, in case you need some inspiration to spark your creativity.
