Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi, new favorite to rock out to. Check it. Now.{Kid Cudi}
both pics circa cobrasnake

people told me slow my road
I'm screaming out fuck that

Imma do just what I want
lookin’ ahead no turnin’ back

if I fall, if I die, know I lived it to the fullest
if I fall, if I die, know I lived and missed some bullets

I'm on the pursuit of happiness and
I know everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold
I'll be fine once I get it, I'll be good.

The return

Okay, so we haven't written much lately. I'm not going to make excuses to the vast expanse of negative space that sums up the world wide web. But at least I'm back. For a little-- who knows.

I needed a place to say something. I don't really know who to talk about it with.. guidance counselor or just.. whatever. I feel like my parents are going to force me to go to the less-expensive school. I know I should be grateful that I don't have to pay tuition by myself, that I have awesome parents who make a decent living and can afford to put me through school. And, don't get me wrong, I am. Completely. I love them for everything. But the thing is, they don't want to. I feel like they resent me for it.
Can you imagine that guilt trip? Like everyday..? So what do I do. Decide to go to the school that they want me to go to because it's what like a bunch less expensive? Why did I even bother killing myself over my RISD application if they second guess everything about the school and are crazy reluctant to even allow me to consider it. At dinner-yes I still have dinner with my parents every night- my dad says, " You know, when I was your age (about 40 years ago) tuition was the same as what your textbooks will cost." Are you serious? What does he want me to do about it? Not go to college? Not chase dreams?

I just don't want to settle for the perfectly fine liberal arts college or even the state school where my friends will be when I have the opportunity to go somewhere different. I know I'm missing a ton of things here, and I might just be blinded by everything and how it seems as if it all is flying past me but I don't want to look back and think, "What if I had gone there instead and not passed up the chance to pay back debt for the next ten years?"

Next time I write, it won't be so terribly selfish and ranting.
Expect more of our usual in the future. At least from me.

Rain

Rain __ Shel Silverstein

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

A Bleak Weds

Things I'm loving this week:

1. Listening to the new Spoon cd on NPR

2. Perusing Brian Ferry's blog and pondering the amazingness of his photography

3. A Perfect World Highly Hydrating body lotion with White Tea from Origins

4. This picture from Oskar Cortez's Flickr photostream

5. A completely rad idea for bike chalk.

6. An interesting article
on the positives of veganism and livestock's influence on the doily that is our ozone.

7. And lastly, some Emmerson who I am sort-of in love with right now:

Tell them, dear, that if eyes were made for seeing,
Then Beauty is its own excuse for being:
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
I never thought to ask, I never knew:
But, in my simple ignorance, suppose
The self-same Power that brought me there brought you.

Road trip

The Pendleton meets Opening Ceremony collection makes me want to take a road trip to the grand canyon or something. In a convertible. With a Navajo inspired motocross jacket. And awesome shades. Rocking out to Chew Lips.

Koolaid Cool

I've gone an done it again. I'm back into knitting all the time. I'm on my third cowl of the year and I'm so excited to wear it. The yarn for this one is gorgeous. Just so perfect. I can't stop staring at it. and touching it. But when I was scrolling through a blog that I had been led to from this other blog (wow I spend to much time with blogs), I saw this. Kool-aid dyeing. How cool, right? So I did a little google-ing and found a recipe for disaster on knitty, the knitters playground of ideas and a go-to how-to warehouse. I cannot wait to do this. I might not stop at yarn (it says you can kool-aid dye human hair?! whaat?).

Bon Voyage

Twas I who has received an acceptance to college! Yay! God the whole thing was so overwhelming. I woke up Tuesday morning and my fate was already on the brain.

At first, I was thinking that school was awful. But I spent a little while at home that afternoon with relatively little to do, and it was a horror to sit around with nothing to do but contemplate your fate. Thankfully, I had plans that night with the Grandmother. Even distractions from her were welcome.

Then came the moment of truth, I opened my email, and there it was. College is tapping in to cyber methods of informing their students of acceptances these days, so I was sent the standard brief message, and then a link to a ridiculous video. The film was made up of haikus about the school, followed by haikus making fun of the haikus, that's how the intellectuals work.

Later this week or early next week I should be getting a nice fat envelope in the mail as follow up. They send confetti in their acceptance letters. So by now, the only reason you're bothering to re(e)d this is because I have yet to inform you as to which school I will be attending next fall. Here's a clue, it's in the previous sentence. YAY REED!

Man, I love College

How many times will you see this title in the next three months? Many.
One of us was ACCEPTED!!!! Now I wont tell you who.. because she might want to say it herself. But I am most certainly jealous of her hearing so early. Yes, it's my own fault I didn't apply early decision (ED), but the anxiety is demolishing me. Soon I will be a shell of a girl. Yes, I am very lovely to speak with in the wintertime. I kid, though. But really, I just want them to accept me already.

Thus, to ward of college stress, I give you some of my good ol' top fave music hits. Enjoy!

Jivamukti

As some of you may know, I love yoga. Last fall, I got back into it, after a five year break from practice in which I was a nosy irritating tween, and early teen.

Despite my love of yoga, classes in this area are freaking expensive. Yet lately, with a little more free time, and a need for some downright relaxation, I'm turning to the internet for my practices. I've searched the yoga podcasts high and low for something that will suit my needs, and think I've finally found it.

Sofi Dillof presents the Jivamukti Yoga Podcast, and it's fantastic. Since I'm just starting to get back into the flow, it's difficult but not too hardcore. Jivamukti combines both a spiritual practice with the classic Vinyasa.

However, have no fear, if you want something totally hardcore and intense, there's also Power Yoga with Dave Farmar. His classes are long and strenuous, I have yet to complete one. But it's definitely a goal to work toward.

Before you get all gung ho to set out and do some crazy yoga exercise, though, bear in mind that the previous two podcasts are spoken word only, and will not show you how to do the poses.

For a good video, check out YOGAmazing, with Chaz Rough

Happy exercising!

Wintry Loop

I just finished off a new scarf/cowl for this winter. I like to refer to it as a loop because essentially, it is one. The loop can be worn as is, or wrapped around your neck twice. I found the pattern on Ravelry, but it originally hailed from Haley Waxberg on Knitomatic.

The pattern was super easy, and only took about an hour to complete, although I altered the pattern slightly. Check it out here!

And of course, we wish everyone the best of Thanksgiving holidays.
