Koolaid Cool

I've gone an done it again. I'm back into knitting all the time. I'm on my third cowl of the year and I'm so excited to wear it. The yarn for this one is gorgeous. Just so perfect. I can't stop staring at it. and touching it. But when I was scrolling through a blog that I had been led to from this other blog (wow I spend to much time with blogs), I saw this. Kool-aid dyeing. How cool, right? So I did a little google-ing and found a recipe for disaster on knitty, the knitters playground of ideas and a go-to how-to warehouse. I cannot wait to do this. I might not stop at yarn (it says you can kool-aid dye human hair?! whaat?).

Wintry Loop

I just finished off a new scarf/cowl for this winter. I like to refer to it as a loop because essentially, it is one. The loop can be worn as is, or wrapped around your neck twice. I found the pattern on Ravelry, but it originally hailed from Haley Waxberg on Knitomatic.

The pattern was super easy, and only took about an hour to complete, although I altered the pattern slightly. Check it out here!

Confessions of a Knitaholic

Oh yes. I just went there. I officially consider myself a knitaholic. Today, sitting in my room, in my comfy chair which is perfectly sized and shaped for sitting down and having a good knit, or read, I officially became a knitaholic. It sounds like I'm in a cult or something. Maybe more like a cult with my own mind. (Did that make any sense at all?) In any case, I had just finished reading Shooting an Elephant, by George Orwell (yes, it almost made me cry), and I was sitting there knitting, when this furious debate pops into my head. It sounded something like this:

I should really do my homework, I have a lot to do

On the other hand... knitting right now is pretty fun

well, what's the minimum amount of work I can get away with doing tonight?

shoot, I still have those chem notes

Ok, it's almost eight, I'll just knit till then

I really don't want to do my homework

And then I'm interrupted by a text from friend J, saying she's on her way over and that she also needs help knitting. So of course, I allow myself to keep knitting until she gets here, knit the whole time she stays, and then after she leaves, continue knitting, cause why stop now? I mean, I'm so close to finishing this beret. Thus, I've come to conclude that one is officially a knitaholic when he or she startst having arguments about knitting with him or her self in their own heads. I hope your days have been significantly less crazy!

Wacky Wednesday

Welcome to Wacky Wednesday! Now, let me preface this post by saying that I love Wednesdays, and not just because it's a short day and I have eighth period free (although that is a major perk). Wednesdays are great for so many reasons. Half the week is over, you can start thinking about the weekend, one begins to feel as though some of the pressure is being lifted, and it's just a really nice inbetweenish type of day. So, due to my love of Wednesdays, and the great alliteration of the name, "Wacky Wednesday", I bring you my newest theme, so to speak. Every Wednesday, I will post some random things that I've seen around the web, or in my life from the previous week. The things won't necessarily be wacky every week, but it will be a fun, uplifting enjoyable knickknack, tutorial, photo, etc. So, for this week, I bring you a whale button tutorial, glass jar photo frames, and the latest tutorial from Lee Meredith's blog Do Stuff!

Chevron Scarf

Today I finished my Chevron Scarf from Do Stuff!, one of my favorite blogs. I used some yarn I had laying around, including a color-changing yarn, and I think I like the way it turned out. It's pretty quick and easy, a good knit if you're pressed for time. However, it was very frustrating the way the 3 colors tended to tangle if I didn't unravel them every few rows or so.
